Week 1 - Habit 1

O.K girls. I have unleashed habit number one on my body. I am already finding the first habit hard to break. But it takes 21 days to make a habit and as a school teacher, I believe in the philsophy that you need to repeat something 80 times to get something completely into your system (halve that if you are a girl apparently!) My first healthy habit is DRINKING WATER. Now, the past 2 days I have actually drank 800m;s of water. I know it's not a lot, but this is me. I don't drink. Seriously. Not at all. I worked out that last term (10 weeks) I drank 3 glasses of water. I mean, I had incidental water in tea and stuff, but only 3 glasses of pure drinking water. I realized that I need water and that it needs to be a life change, so it will become part of my life.

Few people realise at first just how essential water is to the success of their weight-loss program. In fact, the essential place of water in our diet extends to everyone - whether they want to lose weight, gain weight or stay the same weight! We all know we can't live without water, but just why is it so important? Well there are many reasons. Read on and discover why water can help your loss weight and why it is your essential life-force.
Apart from 60-70% of your body being composed of water, water has an extensive range of functions essential to life.
Assists digestion, absorption and assimilation of food. If you don't drink enough water you can't get the full benefit of nutrients in the food you eat.
Assists excretion of waste from bowel and kidneys. If you don't drink enough water you get constipated and put your kidneys under stress.
Regulates body temperature. If you don't drink enough water you compromise the evaporation process you skin uses to keep you cool.
Your blood is 92% water. This is your body's transport system distributing nutrients around the body.
Body secretions and digestive juices are almost entirely water. Why should you drink water when you want to lose weight? Water is a natural appetite suppressant. Do NOT underestimate the power of this statement. Lack of water can lead to over eating. You brain does not differentiate between hunger and thirst. So, when you think you are feeling hungry, your body may in fact be signalling to you that you are thirsty! If you are not consuming enough water each day and you feel hunger pains, chances are, your body really is crying out for water. In many instances people will find what they thought were hunger pangs were in fact, satisfied by water. Try it! You have nothing to lose, except some weight.
The aim is to drink water consistently. If you drink too much all at once or too fast, it will simply pass through you, with little or no benefit to your body. If you are someone who does not enjoy the 'taste' of water, then perhaps you could fill a 1 litre empty soft drink container with water the drink through it twice during the day, adding some fruit, or Cottee’s diet free Cordial to it to make it more palatable. Place it on the desk at work in front of you as a constant reminder to sip continuously throughout the day.
There is absolutely is no doubt about it. When you start drinking enough water regularly, there are great benefits. You may notice your skin significantly improve and even tired muscles will thank you. Many people find their energy is increased and constipation and headaches are reduced, as well as hunger pains.
It's so simple...drink water! Drink as close to 2L a day.

reaching a little deeper............

I was so happy with my 4.8kg loss that I just sat there. Like a stuffed turkey. All smiley on the outside and content on the in. And then I got some stupid infection of the respiratory system and couldn't breath and now I am no longer content. I am constently reminiscing of times gone by when I was successful, but when I dig deeper, I was only ever successful for a limited time, or limited weight loss. I have never gone the whole way. I have never given up my fat cherry to the Weight Loss pork stick. And it is time. How do I know that it is time? Cos, if I am true to myself, I don't really like who I am. If you ever read Beckie, then you would know that she is a gorgeous piece of action in the same boat, and because of this, we applied for Biggest Loser Couples, but considering it starts soon, and we haven't heard, I am guessing that we didn't make the cut. So, that was kind of the final straw for me. I put all my eggs into one basket and begged for a chance. And now, I need to pin my hopes on something else. And I think that something else may have to

it's all about support!!!

like a great bra holding tender bosums on a strenuous run, my sister has asked me to support her on her initial phase of the lapband, which is of course, a one month liquid diet of optifast. ANd what do all good sisters say when their bloodline asks them to be the underwire holding their rack?!? Why, yes, of course. Tonight, I farewell most solids for the next 30 days.Now, we know blood is thicker then water - but is it thicker than a Chomp bar??Let's hope so!

I am over the moon! One of my really old childhood friends just rang me up and asked me to be the Godmother of her children! I feel so blessed by the ask! I *almost* want to listen to the scripture teachers @ the slogfest plaza (work) now! She has taken my spirits and lifted them no end. And, as she lives in Perth - I get to have a diiirty weekend away with Mr M!

Ps - I got up at 6am this morning and went for a walk! And now, I am going to do my Active session (30 day challenge). Today, life is goooooooooooood!

Fursday Fweakout!

Every now and then I have a freakout. It is irrational and unstoppable and ugly. And it happened today. It happens when I feel out of control of the things around me. When I feel like time is running out. WHen I feel like I am powerless. I try to stop them from happening, but they tend to build up over time and run me over like a steam roller. Life should be easier than it is. Work should be less political. Music should be more enjoyable and less of a chore. Weight loss should be achievable. And my social life should be a little bit more than non-existent. Where did my life go?!?

My muscles are Wii-lly Wii-lly sore. Active Personal trainer kicks butt! And 3 hours of mowing/cleaning up Pa's house. Loving detox - and the headaches are gradually evaporating. I love my life in holiday mode and just hope that it all stays positive when I head back to work next week. Being fit and healthy does arm you for stress that may arise though. I need to keep me and my health as a priority!

Today's question - As an adult have you ever been your ideal weight?

As for me, I have been overweight forever. I can't imagine myself thin and find it difficult to think that it is possible for me to get there. But for the moment, I am going to fake it until I make it. If I eat well and exercise then I will be thinner and healthier and fitter and then maybe, I will be happy enough to see changes.

oh so ronery....

it is so lonely here at phat2010. Early stages. People unsure. Think I might kick them if they say the wrong thing. Seriously people, I am stable. Comment already!

On the upside - mr motivation and I are doing a 30 day challenge in conjunction with our Wii active trainer. 30 days of healthy eating and exercise. I am also going to try 30 days without shopping! Seriously, I have TOO much stuff in my house and need NO more. God - I am cringing already!

I love the Wii! My sis bought Wii family games today and we had dinner and then challenges. I suck at anything that requires you to hold down the B and then release. We have also come up with the term, "that was wiitarded" and "you are a wiitard". I moved my coffee table to the side of the room to free up some floor space and said "hey sis! I have some wii space now in the lounge", hours later my little niece came up to me and said "can i play that new wii space game you have?" - so cute!

Day 3....

We are painting and fornicating at a r8 which would make a teenager blush! Fantasmical. I have energy. And a headache. But a headache is cured with mindblowing sex - which i am having, because I finally have some energy! Ride 'em cowboy!

I am not quite sure whether the energy comes from the detox, or from not having to work for the past week. Will let you know.

I started a detox today. Not to lose weight per se, but to do something which increases my need to feel a whole lot healthier in my own skin. I had an avocado and salad wholemeal sandwich for lunch and just had a tomato based sauce on wholemeal pasta for dinner. I have been to the toilet 5 times already today! Seriously, I am a 7am poo girl. I never vary from that, no matter what I have eaten. I also only wee 3 times per day. Suddenly - I have Niagara Falls between my thighs. Crazy! Apparently this has effected my bilf too cos he just passed wind for the entire 10 minute Wii jog he just did. Charming!
